Vermouth Storytelling: ASFS 2020

It has become a familiar feeling in 2020: the wrenching heartbreak of hearing a long-awaited in-person gathering has been cancelled.  Even if one knows it to be the only choice, it stings to mourn the loss of one more thing.

That’s why I was delighted when when my favorite annual Food Studies conference was moved to Twitter!  Co-hosted by the Association for the Study of Food and Society and the Agriculture, Food, and Human Values Society, the Twitter conference has been archived here, if you’d like to peruse other presentations. This was my first professional (or otherwise) engagement with the platform and I was eager to connect across the miles with food studies folks in a completely new way.

Read on for  my ‘conference paper’ – a thread of tweets discussing vermouth storytelling and a video recipe to make your own batch!

Photo Attribution note: All photos (not gifs) in this thread are by me, EXCEPT the tweets quoting Jared and Hannah – they are the respective photographers. Apologies for the misattribution.
